Dyslexia book

I am a digital media technical tutor at UCA, a mixed media designer and maker, and who has been diagnosed with dyslexia at a young age. I was tempted then to put sufferer, but I don’t feel that is something I suffer from. Yes, it’s a pain, and yes, it takes more time to read some text. Yet dyslexia gives the advantages of creativity and the ability to explain things in different and alternative formats. It has changed my life and the way I overcome problems, as well as the way I tackle teaching difficult programmes to students of a range of ages.

I have recently undertaken my Master’s in Visual Communication and for this, I used dyslexia as a basis for a research project around how to show what it is like to have dyslexia. This was undertaken by conducting a small online survey to gather descriptions of what text looks like when different people are reading. This has then been interpreted into visual responses to show what dyslexia is like for non-dyslexics.
